Message from the Headteacher 19.1.18

19th January 2018

Dear Parents & Carers,

I hope this email finds you well.  We have had a very active start to 2018 at Dr Thomlinson Church of England Middle School.

Well done to Bertie who was successful in representing the school and North Northumberland in the cross country trials on Tuesday 16th January.  He finished 7th out of 90 competitors and has now been selected to represent Northumberland (including North Tyneside and Newcastle) against Durham, Cleveland, Cumbria and North Yorkshire at Barnard Castle School in February.

Congratulations also go to our KS3 Boys Football team who beat Newcastle School for Boys in a thrilling 3rd round County Cup match.  The match was 2-2 following extra-time with Dr Thomlinson’s winning 4-3 after a penalty shoot-out.  It is the first time we have entered the County Cup and we are looking forward to our quarter-final tie away to Newminster Middle School.

Thank you to our school librarians who gave a really interesting presentation of their work to the whole school on Wednesday.  Our library is a really important part of our school and we thank them for giving up their time to help run a really important learning resource.

It is always lovely when we can celebrate the achievements that children have achieved outside of school and yesterday the school recognised Jacob’s impressive achievements in swimming.  Well done Jacob.

The school hosted a very successful Year 6 SATS Parent Evening on Wednesday, 17th January.  Thank you to all those who attended.

We wish our Under 13 Rugby team the best of luck in their County Cup matches at Kingston Park on Monday, 22nd January.  It is the first time we have entered the County Cup and we look forward to hearing of their exploits.

Equally we look forward to hearing of the outcome of the KS2 and KS3 indoor athletics meet at Chantry Middle School today.  We entered teams in both events.

Our rearranged Parent Evening from the Autumn term is on January 25th at 4pm.
